The Powder River Boys

The Annual Chase Hawks Dinner/Dance is held every year on the night before our Rough Stock Rodeo
Our band this is year is The Powder River Boys

The Powder River Boys There is a special kind of river that flows out of the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming.  Like other rivers, it has been running for a long time and, also like other rivers, it's water seems to have a life of its own. The difference is that this river is a dance band and it's water is pure energy.

The Powder River Boys embody the feel of the west the same way that the old Powder River itself.  They have played with or opened for western legends such as Chris Ledoux, Hank Thompson, Suzie Bogguss, and Ian Tyson, and have left their mark deep and wide after years of running their own brand of western dance music across the country.

Singer-songwriter Dave Munsick is joined by his boys Tris and Sam as well as Tom Lulias and Fred Serna in creating a sound that is both unique and familiar. As Ian Tyson puts it, "Dave Munsick is a damned fine fiddle player, a pretty good songwriter, and he's good to his dog".  With that kind of an endorsement, you can't go wrong in taking this chance to ride on down and "let her buck".

Dance all night with a great live country band!

Make a good purchase during the silent auction.

It's a chance to meet world champion cowboys.

Each year we kick off the evening with a great meal and afterwards, dance to great music from our live country band. CHMA is grateful to all the local and regional business sponsors, the individuals who donate the high-quality items for the silent auction and host the rough stock rodeo contestants for the Calcutta.  Thanks again to Gainan’s who donated flowers for a year as well as the always successful Alaskan sport fishing trip donated by Harry Huntsinger. The CHMA Team Calcutta has grown to be one of the largest Rodeo Calcuttas in the country. CHMA takes 20 percent of the earnings and the rest is paid out to the top four teams by overall score totals.

The Dinner/Dance held this year at the Billings Hotel and Convention Center the weekend before Christmas will pack 'em in!  So we encourage 2011 patrons to plan ahead and buy their dinner tickets early, ON SALE NOW at the MetraPark Box Office.

If you are traveling from out of town for the Dinner/Dance and Rough Stock Rodeo you need to know that the Billings Hotel and Convention Center offers significantly discounted room rates if you reserve your room by November 15th....  So be sure to ask for "The Chase Hawks Discount".

Thanks to our many sponsors, businesses and "Friends of Chase Hawks"  whose continued support helps our organization fulfill the mission of helping families and individuals in times of crisis.
